I have a question: How does a hurricane kill Shrimp? I understand how monster waves and crazy winds with rain crush houses and kill people who live on the land but don't shrimp live in the water already? That might have worked if you asked for a hamburger and the waitress said "I'm sorry, the hurricane's killed all the cows." At least MIGHT have made more sense then shrimp dying in the hurricanes. Maybe I just don't get it.

I don't think it's so much the wind or the waves that kills the shrimp. It's what all the flooding washes into the gulf after the storm. There is a ton of shit, both literal and figuritive that entered those waters after Katrina. This not only kills off the shrimp, but also makes the live ones 'unsuitable' for consumption by FDA standards. The ocean is not just a dumping ground, it is very sensitive to change, and so is the life that is in it. So a massive 'fish kill' defintly did occur after katrina.

5.Yagid - Thank you for the bio lesson. I am now informed. With that said I have a few more comments:
1. For the record, alot of good cows were down in New Orleans on vacation from eating grass and digesting it 4 times when the storm hit. They figured "what's a little rain, we're here to party."
2. I hate you for making my first answer sound stupid.
Oh yeah Mr. Wizard, I looked up the cow having 4 stomachs thing, no making up some fancy answer to that one. You really grind my gears.
